Maintenace

Prior to final assembly the wooden body has been laid down in order to let the wood settle. Prior to final assembly the wood has been inspected for cracks etc. It is manufactured in two halves and glued together. The flask is sanded and then 2 coats of Danish oil and 1 coat of beeswax applied immediately prior to assembly.

To maintain its waterproofing apply beeswax as and when necessary according to usage

The catch and spring are assembled and tested and should give smooth operation when pressed against the spring. After letting go of the catch the spring should close the catch and when peering down the spout the entry into the chamber should be shut off.

If the catch starts to stick after a while it dissemble by removing the two screws on the top and clean out any ground in gunpowder by a gunpowder solvent or by rubbing with fine wet and dry paper until you get a shiny surface on the brass.

Check the catch for damage and check the catch to see if it been bent either by falling on the catch or being impacted with another device.

Reassemble and check the smooth operation of the catch.

If you want to keep the brass in its shiny condition polish with a commercial brass polish (Brasso).

Each part of the flask is manufactured for ease of disassembly for maintenance and inspection when reassembling ensure all screws are tight and screwed home.
